Heartworm cases have been increasingly diagnosed across the Wide Bay area over the past few years and as part of a promotion to encourage and educate our clients about the dangers of heartworm, we are offering our clients the opportunity to have a free heartworm test with any appointment booked. This heartworm test would normally cost $95.00. A simple blood test is all it takes to find out whether your dog is negative or positive to heartworm.
For those clients who may have never treated their dog for heartworm, or may 
have been using some sort of prevention in the past but let is lapse, this is a wonderful opportunity to find out if your dog is negative for heartworm. If so you can begin preventative treatment immediately. There is a yearly injection available called Proheart which is a simple yet extremely effective prevention.
If your pet tests positive, there is treatment available and we can discuss that with you at your appointment.
Heartworm kills and all it takes is one bite from an infected mosquito, so it is very easily contracted.
It is however also very easily prevented.
